An inspiring story.Recently made a similar transition from backend development (with some frontend experience) to database development in C, current team am part of manages the authentication aspect. Can truly resonate with this journey on a personal level.
The boundaries on this look very odd to me. I wonder what kind of model and terrain resolution they use for this forecast.
It seems very odd how some quite low lying shore areas in the SF Bay are excluded while other areas are painted over very high elevations including the SF peninsula and Oakland/Berkeley hills.
For the East Bay it looks like they drew a very rough outline of the contour of the hills and then pushed it an extra half mile or so inland, which results in some clearly safe spots landing inside the line.
Sometime back watched a video explaining how Fernando Alonso's breaking style is similar to ABS, but with him modulating the brake force he was able to outbrake others and gain time lap over lap.
Got curious, tried at low speeds & surprised how much the brake force modulation reduces the stoping distance. It has become a habit now and when the speed drops like maybe to 40mph or less instinctively modulate the braking.
This! I think people from south east Asia can relate to this. I’ve been an active rider for over a decade before coming to US. When counter steering was taught in the motorcycle safety program,it felt counter intuitive. One reason I can think of is back in my home country max speeds were under 50mph where you dont have to counter steer that much.
When I came to states in 2012, missed using a phone with physical keyboard. Got a used Bold 9700 on eBay for $100 and instantly fell in love with it. Optical trackpad complimented the physical keypad. Sometimes I wonder why Apple hasn't used the home button as optical trackpad, atleast in the pro models.
