Cancel culture beats people into the ground with words so far that they drink bleach which has literally happened. boycotts end shitty business practices.
Oh come on, you want to talk about cancel culture, lets talk about the Satanic Panic. When I was growing up it was in full effect. I personally was affected by it. How you ask? Let me link you a story I've already posted in the comments before: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=24159399
My mother was "canceled" and actually had her life ruined because of a false confession, and a deranged group of Christian cultists. But you're upset because someone had their social media account banned because they were being an absolutely awful person. Oh no!
A lot of these accounts that are getting banned are from Q-Anon. These people are coming up with bullshit lies that affect the lives of other people. But you don't side with the people that are having their lives turned over because of these idiots spreading falsehoods, you're defending the deranged maniacs who were correctly moderated into oblivion. You're response is, oh no some of these deranged maniacs who ruin the lives of people on the internet by indulging in conspiratorial fetish might drink bleach!
What I want to know is who's paying all these people to stand around and socialize while they're on the clock am I paying for that as a customer because fuck that what company is this. I'll take my business to someone who has employees who are efficient and keep my cost low.
Oddly nobody seems to wonder this about the golf and yachts of executives. Yes, very successful companies generate lots of free cash flow, and there are myriad expressions of this, like extremely wealthy executives, staff that enjoys niceties like socializing while at work, and lots of other stuff. Customers are not actually very sensitive to the size of margins taken, in many many businesses.
I have lived around the Great lakes all my life and I see the research of natural History of these Great lakes as an indicator of long-term climate. That climate ranges quite widely. Right now we think that within the last 14,000 year time period the lakes are about the lowest average they usually get rn. They have before fluctuated about 200 ft in several hundred years. But they've been much much lower before. The average is about 100 ft higher. Just think of the millions of people that's going to affect when the lakes go back to normal. They're already starting to show signs of coming up massive amounts of flooding on both sides.
Remember the housing market boom right before the bubble popped they propped it up with stimulus money everybody was like oh wow this is great houses are such a low price...... You're basically talking about the same thing there
No. I do remember people being like, 'holy shit, houses are getting so expensive' in the years leading up to the bubble popping. And knowing a few people stuck in their houses after real estate agents convinced them to buy at way more than market value.
What stimulus are you talking about? Mortgage rates were laughably high by today's standards. Maybe the $600 bush tax cut? I remember some first time home-buyers programs, but those were largely in response to 2008.
30 years ago I realized the same thing and stop being a slave too but the federal government is making it increasingly harder and harder to own your own business every time I turn around some entity with an alphabet name once a huge portion of money like the EPA
That's because climate change is still not proven after 30 years every model every prediction is almost ultimately turned up to be wrong or reversed yes the Earth is changing natural History shows us that it does that very rapidly whether or not we caused it or not is still the issue. I look at it this way smog is climate change it changes an entire city climate it also kills people with bad lungs but you're not going to get people to stop making it.
I'll never really understand why people latch onto a figure and think that they have all the best ideas and inside info they're not that special go get the inside info yourself
Sort of makes me think that there's a they live situation where the government's being controlled and they're hoping the population catches on but they can't say a thing
Shade tree mechanic here, most my cars are 20 YO old. I just got a "new" car a 12 yo Twin turbo AWD BMW. I have to say the amount of "lifetime fluid" stickers on it is way to damn high. it needed all these lifetime fluids changed at 40k intervals but BMW made it that way so they wouldn't have to maintain all the fluids. NOW ME AND THE MAD SCIENTIST GOT TO PULL APART TORQUE CONVERTER BECAUSE IT WAS THE FIRST ONE EVER IN HISTORY TO INCLUDE A CLUTCH PACK.
I feel like the Democratic party has constantly pushed back and fought against any type of new identification forms. No identification to get benefits no identification to vote
