I’m excited to share Muslim Duo, an app I’ve been working on that’s inspired by the gamified success of Duolingo—but with a unique and focused twist. Unlike Duolingo, which aims to teach the entirety of a language, Muslim Duo exclusively targets Quranic Arabic, making the learning process much simpler, faster, and more efficient.
Why Quranic Arabic Is Different
Here’s the thing: Arabic as a whole is vast and complex, but understanding Quranic Arabic doesn’t have to be. The Quran uses a limited vocabulary—just 80 key words make up nearly 50% of the Quran! This means that with a targeted approach, you can start understanding the Quran in a fraction of the time it would take to learn Modern Standard Arabic or a dialect.
The Idea Behind Muslim Duo
Like many, I’ve always felt a disconnect during prayers. I could recite the Quran fluently, but I couldn’t grasp the meaning without translations. I realized the solution wasn’t in generic Arabic classes but in something specifically tailored for Quranic understanding.
Muslim Duo was born out of this need:
- Simplified Learning: Focus on Quranic vocabulary and grammar that matter, skipping what doesn’t.
Interactive Stories: Learn through the stories of the Quran—Musa (AS) confronting Pharaoh, Nuh (AS) and the flood, and many more.
- Gamified Lessons: Like Duolingo, our lessons are bite-sized, interactive, and designed to keep you hooked.
- AI-Powered Practice: Chat with AI using learned Quranic words to deepen understanding and make learning dynamic.
