We’re turning Stooa into an Open Source tool for the following reasons:
1. Giving back to the OS community, some of the knowledge we’ve borrowed and support this way of approaching innovation and development.
2. Alignment with Open Source values: sharing, proposing, contributing, iterating. It also dovetails with our Agile work methodology and the Kaizen culture of continuous improvement.
3. Technical learning. As an opportunity to draw on the international development community’s best practices and at the same time a means of gauging our knowledge and the quality of what we develop.
4. Extending reach. Opening Stooa up is additionally an avenue for the product to be adopted by the communities for which it is intended, such as developers and users, facilitators and Agile communities, and also a way of reaching other audiences and unlocking new applications.
5. OS product governance. How do you map out the governance model for this kind of product? We see this step as a learning challenge for the whole team.
6. Accessibility and serendipity. We seek to make Stooa a transparent and accessible tool which fosters unprecedented relationships, connections, contributions and inputs.
7. And, above all… Because sharing is caring :-)
