Thanks! Glad you like it.

Regarding watching the whole user directory: surprisingly, performance isn't an issue at all. macOS handles file system events very efficiently, so watching ~/ wouldn't cause any noticeable overhead. The decision to make it manual is purely about security and user control. I wanted a strict "opt-in" approach so users know exactly where the app is operating, preventing any unexpected accidental conversions in sensitive folders. It's all about the principle of least surprise.

As for background jobs vs. manual renaming: Morpholder is designed to be highly specific. It only triggers when a file is renamed to a supported target extension (e.g., specifically to .jpg or .mp3) or when one of the exact keywords (like _nobg or _min) is appended. Because the trigger conditions are so narrow, the chances of conflicting with a random background script are very low.

That being said, you bring up a really good point about edge cases with file locking and multiple apps interacting simultaneously. I'll definitely run some additional stress tests on those scenarios. Really appreciate the feedback and food for thought!

We are featured on Product Hunt! I would be grateful to everyone who can support the project there. If you like it, of course.

Nice question! We left the field for uploading photos optional, if the photo is not uploaded, a different layout and design will be applied to the menu. I also assume that it will not be bad if we implement photo search using photostock services, such as Unsplash. Do you think this will work? Thank you

It's never too late to start :) Thank you!

Hi Hacker New! I'm Marat, founder of Scanly. This is my side project that I have been working on recently. Day X has come, I finished the project, it's time to launch here.

We are going through a difficult time, I thought how I could help, and decided that this is not a bad idea. Of course, the idea is not new, but I tried make it well, better than we have now.

Considering that I completely did everything myself, design and development, perhaps this does not yet have a lot of the necessary functionality.

So, if Scanly has users, I plan to add: Direct Payments Covid Trace (in some countries this requirement) Online booking and order

If any of you have someone who needs such a service, I would be happy your recommendation.

And I really excited about your feedback.

Cheers, Marat

Hi Marat, great work, quite impressive. I totally see the need for this as restaurants and alikes are struggling right now and any help they can get is certainly welcome.

Thinking of that, I have a very minor suggestion.

I was thinking that perhaps most restaurants that would need this because they can't solve the problem themselves are the kind of place with low tech skills, including photography. Those places might not have pics of everything they serve, so they might prefer not to show pictures. And given the current times, they aren't probably in the mood to spend extra cash.

Additionally where I'm from (Italy) it's considered a very bad sign if a restaurant has pictures in the menu (it's often a place for tourists -> relatively low quality). It's a cultural thing that I think is shared in many places in europe. Pics would be ok only in some very narrow situations.

All that just to say that perhaps you could also provide an example without pictures, with a text only polished menu.

Wow! Didn't know about it. Really appreciated, amazing feedback. Thank you!

Hi Folks,

I am Marat, co-founder of wealthX.ai. I'm super thrilled to share with you the investing app Denys and I were building for past couple years.

Just like many folks in US and around the world, we are on our path to achieve financial freedom, by constantly saving and investing what we can. We read a number of books on investing including a famous "The Intelligent Investor" and also doing research how value investing gurus, like Warren Buffett do the companies valuation and picking.

What we found, to be a passive investor is a pretty easy task. Invest in stock index fund or ETF like SPY or VOO and you should be good :). But if you like to get a bit better results… this is where it does take a lot of your time and knowledge. Doing analysis just for couple companies takes significant amount of time and involves looking at financial reports and making the calculations just to understand whether the company has healthy business numbers, not to mentioned if its stock is overvalued compared to the market price. And we are talking hundreds if not thousands of potentially good companies out there that are traded publicly.

Being software engineers, we knew we could scratch that itch and build software that will be doing all the calculations for us daily and present results in an easy to follow recommendation list of what to buy, what to sell and what to hold. That's how wealthX.ai was born.

Join us on our path of achieving financial freedom faster! Check out wealthx.ai and let us know if you have any questions!
