The idea for this was inspired by Getting Things Done (by David Allen). The key idea is that to achieve productivity, you need a clear mind. A clear mind is knowing that everything in your life is either shelved away for Archival purposes, has a clear present next action or is awaiting followup from someone else.
The 15,000 unread emails would drive me crazy. Perhaps declaring email bankruptcy is a way to get out of it?
And since when the only use for select multiple is tagging?
The problem occurs when there are few options, not virtually unlimited options and especially if they are not known in advance. Then discoverability suffers and also forces you to type three times instead of just mark them.
Chosen doesn't support adding tags dynamically. It also looks like select2's api is more friendly and convenient. I will be converting my chosen dialog to select2 as it looks like an improvement overall.
Except people expect select lists to work like that. This is nicely done, but it breaks a number of established conventions about how select lists work.
