Let me guess, you can pay a premium for the “old” style wheel and stalk?

I wouldn’t say ironic. Japanese automakers like Toyota were accused of being caught off guard by electric cars but the truth is that these companies have been developing hydrogen drivetrain and vehicle technology for a long, long time. Those that wonder why Toyota introduced the Prius and seemingly stopped short of an electric car after that haven’t been paying attention to what Toyota’s vision for transportation looks like.

They just didn’t think that governments would be so willing to subsidize battery electric.

I think Axel should be forced to adopt George’s company slogan recommendation if he loses.

I have an interest in researching CS programs within a specific geographical area in the states but am having trouble finding good data on student outcomes and associated metrics. If this ranking data is bs or gamed, then what’s the best available resource for helping to determine what programs are good, bad or otherwise?

I love the intent but doesn’t this make the problem worse? Your dollars are essentially rewarding a system that created the debt in the first place.

Not for the people whose medical debt is eliminated

Reminds me of https://www.thestarfishchange.org/starfish-tale

We all have to wait for the US to solve its systemic healthcare problem - but we can make a difference in someone’s life now

The same argument is made against helping homelessness, right? Providing overnight shelters makes being homeless less miserable but doesn't really solve the root problem.

Close, but I’m not advocating against helping, just commenting on this particular approach. Also in your example, homeless needing shelter are currently at risk of environmental exposure whereas in this stage of medical debt, the damage has already been done (debt is discounted due to time elapsed since its initial sale). Buying medical debt offers relief by way of positive disposition but also rewards someone who bought and sold that debt along the way. If you’re voting your dollars to a system that profits off misfortune, you are encouraging that system to exist.

The interior screens dim. They are better than many ICE vehicles in this regard.

They are still insanely bright, and huge. It's impossible to see outside of the car with them.

I think this is the play. They can create or influence standards that favor their new position - build vertical integration where others in this space cannot.

Absolutely not.

You’re thinking that Broadcom acts as a company with a technological vision. This is a totally not the case and the CEO is very open about that.

Today’s Broadcom is a company that optimizes the financial performance of technology assets.

There are no long term plans.

Wouldn't that be an abuse of monopoly though? If VMware suddenly starts supporting broadcom hardware better than other enterprise hardware.

You could call it that. But it's also industry practice.

This behavior is thought to be innate, which by definition is considered to be not learned behavior but preprogrammed into DNA. Consider a plant titling towards the sun.

Plant tilting towards the sun is due to heliotropism : https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heliotropism

Best of luck to her and family. My heart goes out to you all.

Oh, looks like we have our very own in the US via Reddit: https://reddit.com/u/rightcoastguy

I'm not sure they qualify to be called "Chindōgu", two of the rules are "It must be a tool that solves everyday life problems" and "It is not for sale" while some inventions of theirs don't solve anything at all, and some of them seems to be for sale in their shop.

It's just normal "Unnecessary Inventions".
