It's a defence mechanism, I think. Most of your life people tell you your lazy, weird, etc. These things become part of your identity and they hurt and hold you back. ADHD is a problem with solutions so replacing those internalized labels helps. Even if it's not the most healthy solution.
The system knows to serve you ads about the new topic because it's new. You're already getting ads for the stuff you're normally talking about. The new topic stands out easily.
It doesn't have to be your phone. Could be your TV or any other device.
Most importantly there's just patterns of behavior. Companies are absolutely desperate for every scrap of data they can get on you. Why would they not capture audio from your mic?
I think it's more about the near-infinite number of people you have to play with on video games vs in-person sports.
If you blow up at someone during a sports game, there will be real-world consequences for you, eventually you will not be able to play that game at all in your geographic area.
If you yell at people over a computer headset it doesn't matter what they think of you, you can simply move on to the next group of people. Very rarely (mostly at the very top levels) does reputation matter. And at the end of the day you can simply name change and escape your rep.
Interpersonally the stakes are orders of magnitude lower in video games than in RL.
Since it's so difficult to solve all social issues we shouldn't waste any effort trying. There's no ponit in having morals or even independent thought if we're being honest.
Believe both. The US does some things better, others do other things better. And maybe you get more cutting edge stuff in the US but there is also a big risk to go bankrupt over standard stuff. Having lived in both Germany and US i find the US situation terrifying. If you have a serious health problem in the US it’s a total gamble whether you will go bankrupt or not. And there is no way to avoid that.
iOS / Safari / Content Blockers are not as full-featured as Android / Mobile Firefox / uBlock Origin, but I'm quite content with https://1blocker.com/ , it provides several lists (with a less stringent limit than the crippled webRequest API discussed here) of rules to pick from, and the possibility to create your own rules through a Safari extension.
