I've spoken to many people about building a venture studio focusing on career development and training.

They've all told me it's a bad idea.

"There's no money in training" "Young people are only interested in getting their first job, no one wants to invest in their career" "Venture studios are losing propositions, there's no way to scale your attention"

I think they're wrong.

I still believe helping young people build strong foundations for a career is the greatest impact I can make in the world.

And I believe that one can do that in a profitable and sustainable way.

Here's the vision and strategy behind Human Insight Ventures, a venture studio that aims to create empathic and effective people as the most viable strategy for affecting long-term change in the world.

Thanks :)

A short essay I wrote on why professional independence is a prerequisite to a fulfilling career.

I wrote something about my experience of entrepreneurship, amongst other things, in 2022.

How our choices physically distinguish us from our outgoing peers

I did an hour long talk on JBTD and User story mapping, that I posted to youtube.

I saw however that noone was watching longer than a few seconds.

So I split it up into short bits, and tried video editing for the first time :)

The playlist has been sitting in my draft for months, thought I'd share :)

I gave a talk at IBM recently for some product folks and talked about Jobs to be Done and User story mapping. Would love any feedback / advice on doing better next time! :)

Thanks for you reply @tomxor :)

You're welcome. For what it's worth, you could try re-posting on HN in a short time.

It can be hit or miss with submissions making it to the front page, it's not necessarily uninteresting, sometimes it's just timing.

Whatever you do, my advice is don't do it from a place of fear or desperation.

Take the time you need to think about what's best, and delay irreversible decisions until you are in a good place to make them.

Do whatever you need to get into a good mental space so you can think about what's the best course of action for you.

Very best wishes for the coming few months - may they open new doors of possibility and well being for you :pray :)
