Fascinating the range of effects available by printing using plants e.g. see https://wendyfe.wordpress.com/plants-for-eco-dyeing-and-eco-...

Dr Strangelove himself seems to be the perfect prototype for a modern tech entrepreneur: The type of mad techno bro who relishes the opportunity to apply his hair-brained schemes to fix real world problems. The worse things get the more he bubbles with excitement and throws out outlandish solutions.

You might not like their stance on issues, but in today's media landscape The Guardian is as good as it gets: https://www.theguardian.com/the-scott-trust

The fact that they have a detectable "stance on issues" is exactly the reason to call their neutrality and independence into question.

Humans are going to have a stance because they are human. Do you want to wait until there is an unbiased AI that can do journalism or do you want something that's ok now?

Perfect is the enemy of good and all that.

Media has always had a view, hence the editorial section. IMHO Having a guiding principle or view doesn’t mean the guardian is under influence

>IMHO Having a guiding principle or view doesn’t mean the guardian is under influence

Whether they do this out of their own conviction or due to external influence is ultimately secondary. The Guardian is taking a clear side in the culture war and subjects her reporting to it. Check out their reporting on topics like race, immigration, gender relations, or the Middle East.

For those interested in Agatha's life this book is worth reading: https://www.simonandschuster.com/books/Agatha-Christie/Lucy-...

....tennis players often shout as they smack the ball. And research shows that coupling hand movements with specific mouth movements, often with vocalization, shortens the reaction time needed to do both.

Perhaps this will help reduce my annoyance when watching a very vocal tennis match!

Most of "poor people" in USA would be considered above average in other countries and continents.

Context matters. If they moved to those other countries and continents, which have lower costs of living, they’d be fine. But: moving costs money and time they don’t have (since they’ve gotta work 3 jobs to put food on the table), those other countries and continents have even less opportunity to build a business, and so on.

It doesn’t really matter that you think “poor people” aren’t really that poor. They are, and risk is much harder to stomach when it means becoming actually homeless. Denying that is sticking your head in the sand.

So they're financially secure enough for risky speculative investment?
