Apple says they don't currently scan, due to the previous backlash. But the capability is there in iOS, waiting for the mothership to remotely enable the feature flag.
So I can walk into one of 272 Google Stores in the US and talk to a real person about any Google product I pay for like I can with Apple?
I can depend on Google to support a Google branded phone I bought in 2013 with security updates 8 years later like an iPhone 5s user could or with operating system updates for a phone I bought in 2015?
The original poster couldn’t get anyone on the line about a Google account. You can call an Apple CSR about an iCloud issue.
"Apple announced plans last year to scan the iCloud for known sexually abusive depictions of children, but the rollout was delayed indefinitely after resistance from privacy groups."
I bet you would have said the same thing when Microsoft killed browser competition decades ago using its Windows dominance. Fortunately, the govt acted against Microsoft.
If Microsoft continued its monopolistic practices, it's very likely that the iPhone that you like so much now won't be existing today.
In the eyes of Wall Street, it's all about growth. Facebook continues to be among the Top 3 or Top 5 apps in installed base but if you're not growing at the same pace as before, it's bad.
Facebook is obviously not likely to significantly grow their user base at this stage. There’s only so many people. Wall Street doesn’t expect them to do the impossible.
Or does it? Wall Street tends to do irrational stuff, and besides, there are still about four billion people in the world without a Facebook account, so there’s still room to grow.
Found the updated list as of 2021[0]. Facebook is still in top 10, but the list in general seems extremely arbitrary. Amazon is in top 5 somehow? And Nintendo is in top 10, above FB? I can maaaaaybe see Amazon, but Nintendo makes zero sense to me on that list. CIA, FBI, and IBM ranked higher than Twitter? Also doesn't make much sense to me.
This one is about ad tech.
DoJ is probably filing this lawsuit first either it's easier to win and/or they have gathered enough evidence.
Pretty sure they are looking into App Store antitrust too.
