> Maybe I'm cynical, but what I'm wondering is which country's regulation led to Apple being forced to do this

Not Europe, that’s for sure.

Most likely American “regulation” via cutthroat capitalism and attempt to copy WeChat’s success.

Isn’t this what competition is supposed to like?

How's this competition if it's still using apple's payment infrastructure in apps that are shipped via apple's app store?

Yes. You'll own nothing and be happy /s

>I don't want EU to fall behind further in the AI race

Buddy, EU didn’t even sign up for the race

It's not a race anyway. The Americans always make things into one. But it's mainly their obsession with being "number one". Being number two or three is just fine. We will catch up.

What I'm more worried about is that they'll drag us down into another financial crash like in 2007 when the AI bubble bursts and investors get pissed that they've spent trillions on hot air.

I don't mean to be a dick but I'm getting a bit tired of all this constant survival of the fittest mentality and the idea that they have the best country in the world when in fact it is pretty awful if you're not rich (especially when in poor health). There's a lot of things we do a lot better in Europe and I'm glad to live here. Especially the last year. I don't want Europe to become more like the US.

> I don't want Europe to become more like the US.

Well, we will see. Seems to be happening anyway. Best of luck

I just hope that Europe won't have to pay for your fuckup like we did last time with your real estate bubble.

Well there is Mistral.

> AI tends to be overly-positive, so either AI might congratulate you on your kill streak.

Nice

> Hopefully as a society we can also learn the lesson that tech companies cannot be trusted to deliver what's best for us.

If society were ignorant, then it’s forgivable. But society is not ignorant.

We know tech companies deliver things bad for us (lies and manipulation).

And we knowingly choose it, over the good (truth).

> Not universally though, the local skate park and sports fields see plenty of activity.

Sure if “at least one match” means activity.

Back in the day, you couldn’t find parking for several blocks radius around every public sports field.

>Queens, NY has entered the chat…

You’re correct, but at least LaGuardia airport generally has takeoffs over water.

LaGuardia aircraft landings may happen over dense apartment buildings, but less likely for catastrophic damage (glide path, less fuel, engines are <10% throttle, etc)

It also has JFK, on the South side.

> Why do you think companies would prefer to make less profit here?

Because if you make too much profit, you get regulated by government.

It's not the 1980s anymore. If you make too much profit nowadays you pull a John Deere and start crying to government that your customers aren't profitable enough (because you siphoned off all of their profit) and need a bailout so that they can pay even more for your product in the future.
