It could be the different extensions you have installed. Often this happens with adblockers, so if you use incognito mode or another browser it would fix it.

Seems kind of silly to ignore that javascript enables much more robust user interfaces. It can and is used poorly or maliciously, but it's used for far more than cosmetic or financial reasons.

What is "much more robust" even supposed to mean? It sounds like meaningless marketingspeak. The countless number of sites that break the back button, scrolling, general navigation, showering my eyes with distracting animations, or show some stupid popup when I select text make me lean towards the UI being much better without JS, and indeed I keep it off by default.

I once had a site beg me to enable JS "for a better user experience", one which didn't need it to work. I did, and promptly turned it off again when I realised what the "better" actually meant (see above). Not going to fall for that one again...

When I want to read an article in a newspaper, I don't need a "robust" user interface, I need the text and (sometimes) the pictures. Links to other relevant content are a bonus. This could be done with the very first web browser.

Yet for some reason (hint: money) newspaper websites load megabytes worth of scripts to display kilobytes of text.

There are cold gas thrusters, grid fins, and the main engines are gimballed.

There's not going to be hundreds. The first crew flight is supposed to happen next year.

I simply can't program with a laptop in my lap without my hands/back starting to hurt immediately. I'd love to work from the beach but I really need an ergonomic setup to get any real work done.

Why would people have not heard of Nicaragua?

Actually, i had to look it up. But it's in Central America. So i ( from Europe), haven't heard anything from it ever, sorry

I think you can't extrapolate your lack of education or knowledge of basic geography to everyone else. I'm also from Europe and of course I knew Nicaragua.

Here in Portland almost every driver uses both apps so I don't find a difference in driving. I prefer Uber simply because there's less expectation of tipping and the price is about the same.

> there's less expectation of tipping

What on earth gave you that idea?

There is no tipping expectation with Uber, no matter what disgruntled drivers on reddit say.

In the US there certainly is. I don't know what it's like in other countries though.

If the driver doesn't want a tip, they will turn it down.

Humans and computers have different strengths though. Just because humans can't do something good doesn't mean computers can't, and vice-versa.

I've seen this kind of situation unfold before in a tech community. Without picking a side here, I will say that one thing that really bothers me is the lack of transparency. The whole concept of being able to publicly shame/expel someone without providing real evidence to support that action because of "privacy" seems extremely unfair.

> It doesn't take away from anything when it's off.

While you can certainly design a room around a modern TV easier than in the past, I still find them to be aesthetically unpleasing when I'm not using them. Especially when dealing with small apartments and studios, I don't want a large TV in my space.

Yes, in fact it's surprisingly difficult to buy a small one that is still feature rich.
