Somehow this is simultaneously the most and least self-aware comment section I've seen on HN.

Its only Monday, but calling an Arch installation “basic tech literacy” is the funniest thing I’ll read this week.

>Its only Monday, but calling an Arch installation “basic tech literacy” is the funniest thing I’ll read this week.

Booting from an USB Drive understanding a few menu options is in fact what I would call "basic tech literacy".

Maybe parent commenter should root-cause why they think it's Monday first

Probably because they, unlike you, are able to read comment datestamps?

EDIT: this is fascinating. On web, their comment shows as 1 hour ago. But on my mobile app, their comment shows as 3 days ago. Looks like the HN mods second-chanced this article, and it edited all the old comment timestamps as a result?

Maybe we're all just having a case of the mondays

Gotta be some bug because I've seen a thread 4 days ago on mobile that was yesterday shown as new on desktop with comments that I clearly read already dated also as new, posted within hour.

The behavior does match what I've seen in articles which have been second chanced.

Most would disagree. I think it's easy to take for granted how much work, experience, and knowledge goes into being able to use a computer at all.

> Actually 'nitpicking' is when you assume someone didn't read an article whenever their post references the title of the article.

Well that just can't be accurate.

Also, bonus points for nitpicking someone's use of the word nitpicking.

> without actually reading the article

Not accurate? Try reading the thread that you randomly jumped into. lol.

I was (jokingly) commenting on your curious definition of the word nitpick, but yeah, guess I should have read the article. Thank you for your advice.

Wasn't advice. Just correcting your intentionally false statement.

Op-Eds aren’t generally considered legally enforceable.

I own this mouse. The battery needs replacing every couple weeks. I would have paid twice the price for something rechargeable (before I knew how spotty the scrolling is).

Uhm, get some rechargeable AAA batteries? It's what I use with my boring wireless mouse.

I guess what I'm saying is I'd pay more to charge my mouse every six months rather than every two weeks.

This is the funniest hill to die on. Thank you.

Classic HN.

I honestly can’t tell if this is sarcastic.

no sarcasm at all and this well documented (iPhones are more expensive then many Android phones.. it's a status symbol of being rich vs. not) i just never experienced until recently / this week ...went out with an anesthesiologist in early 40s who when i texted with my dating number (google voice) said "I hate green bubbles." I then texted them with my iPhone number and got the reply, "That's better."

> Since then, I’ve been overseeing both organisations, but really, the two roles require two people doing them, and of necessity most of my attention has had to be devoted to the trading business.

> With that in mind, I’m very pleased to be able to announce that Lance Howarth has joined us as Foundation CEO, and will be taking the lead on the Foundation’s charitable activities.

Seems pretty clear to me.

Seems clear if you don't check the facts, sure.

E.g. the fact that the Raspberry Pi Foundation terminated E Upton's directorship the previous year.

Let's be fair and compare similar products. Do you have any examples of $2000 mobile devices that support eye tracking on the OS level? The products you mention look like they're extra hardware you strap to a Windows PC. Certainly useful, but not quite as potentially life-changing as having that built into your phone.

> no dentist or hygienist will mention it to you because, well you know why.

Every single dentist I've been to has told me this method. Maybe it's a regional thing?

The only drill and fill dentist I ever encountered had a great location for temporary residents and wasn't recommended to me by anyone.. I think most dentists work on lifetime value and prefer to give the advice in the article to anyone who seems open to advice.
