I do wonder when these restrictions will run into discrimination against those with disabilities. Many assistive devices and medications cannot be separated from the person and go in luggage because of temperature issues.

at least for linux, it might make sense to containerize the environment and store it. That way next time if it doesn't build on current, one can use the prev that did work.

i use linux on a daily basis and i will say microsoft’s solution to containerization was the .exe

linux has appimage, but containerization also falls prey to gpl.

exe, appimage, containerization are ideologically opposed to the gpl—- errr the other way around. gpl essentially requires compiling from source, which is great, but the intention behind that is to disrupt software supply chain distribution and most people want to be able to upgrade their computer, which is architecturally challenging with gpl, which is where nix, guix and the like can politely solve the compilation and distribution problem

but the core problem is my mom wanted a picture of me to know i’m alive, which is now entirely irrelevant to the topic at hand.

the GPL is irrelevant here and exe’s are less related.

GPL requires the source to be available.

EXE’s are not containers more than any other program file

Lots of scale differences here though, Iceland has like 400k people and is around the 180th in terms of population. Good to see, but I would say hard to compare with larger countries.

I fail to see your point here. If anything, shorter working weeks would have a bigger impact on countries with lower populations

Im ok if it isnt popular. It will keep compute costs lower for those using it as the norm is excessive usage

Funny thing is, this made me look at places like Gog again, bought a few games. But I am ok waiting years to play a game on lower end hardware with all the games bug fixes already in place.

One feature that is missing, removed, from Firefox is PWA's/running sites as apps. This is super handy for low trust apps

same here, the one thing keeping me on chrome

I think Boost::unordered_map is a drop in replacement, but I think it is the breaking of existing code part. Not that they couldn't pop that behind an ABI flag.

at the source level it does, but when you have compiled libraries it breaks.

enterprise gets a better version too. less ads
