All I can say to you is that it takes a bit of patience to get good in TTS. I was very clumsy in the beginning. The community made games vary a lot in quality. You should look for mods that have a bit of scripting to help with setup and game admin, sometimes the scripts are broken, though. We do a voice call with all players during the game.

Very cool. Why all those semi-colons in your code?

I doubt it'll be a popular response, but despite Python not requiring semicolons while many do (or most languages I use), I simply tend to end all statements with semicolons as a personal preference.

As far as I know, it was implemented by Raymond Hettinger. This is a very interesting talk about the new tech:

Indeed, here is the mail from Raymond Hettinger explaining the new design on the python-dev list: https://mail.python.org/pipermail/python-dev/2012-December/1... Quite amazing that it is faster, more memory efficient and convenient for the end user.

Raymond came up with the idea, PyPy implemented it, and then INADA Naoki implemented it for CPython.

If I remember correctly his talk. He went to CPython first and it was rejected, but PyPy welcomed it.

It was proposed by Raymond Hettinger, but was actually first implemented by PHP and Pypy.

I had the same thought. I really like Numbers, I stoped using Evernote because it was bloated (I am using the simpler stock mac notes). I use Calendar, Reminders, Preview and Safari. Quick look is not an app, but is a great mac feature that you don't find elsewhere.

I think that the stock apple software is really good. It is simple without lacking usability. It is something that you can really use and, if you need something better or more customizable, you can get third party apps.

I feel like bloatware is something that is very bad and not usable.

The fact I can't uninstall certain non-critical applications like iTunes certainly makes it feel like bloatware.

You can, there are a ton of instructions on the internet showing how. Not sure why you would bother though, disk space is cheap.

> disk space is cheap

Not from Apple it isn't.

* Adding 128 GB to a MPB = $200

* 512GB SSD on NewEgg = $100.

On my machine iTunes is 200MB, so about 30 cents worth.

My belief is that being able to not see stuff like that gives a much stronger sense of ownership of the device. It also removes you from an endless treadmill of software updates to something you don't use (some of which may even force you to restart your machine). Following someone's guide to perform hacks to remove something that the OS vendor clearly expects to always be there is both a hassle and likely to cause unforseen consequences in the future, so I don't really agree that the desire is actually solved by the existence of these guides.

C# has just implemented nested functions.

There is a nice blog post that concisely explains why local functions are better than lambdas: https://asizikov.github.io/2016/04/15/thoughts-on-local-func...

C#: "Local functions can not be static."

Static nested (i.e. local) functions in D can be static. What that does is prevent the function for accessing locals in the enclosing scope(s).

I also like their Release Radar playlist, you get new releases from the artists you follow.

I don't think they shot Seinfeld in 35mm to be future proof. It was the best way to film at the time.

Friends reruns also got the HDTV rescans. In some shows you can see things that weren't supposed to be on-camera in the 4:3 format.

It's just a matter of which shows are worth the cost and time to do it.

They did this to some of the star trek series. Some scenes you can see things that were not meant to be seen. E.g. here Kirk and Khan are arguing, and then suddenly two people dressed like them start fighting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=B_c...

I can't find it now, but I believe they even redid some of the early CG effects by just rerendering the old models with modern software. It's worth preserving that kind of stuff for future generations. One of my favorite video games was rereleased over a decade later with updated graphics. Sadly they had to recreate everything from scratch because the original files were lost. And the original models were very high detail. They just converted to 2d and down sampled a ton because of the limitations of PCs at the time.

What is the vid you send supposed to show?

I think the point the parent was trying to make was that 4K resolution can be detrimental. You can plainly see that the two actors that play the original characters didn't actually perform the fight scene. In the original broadcast the resolution was so low that makeup and effects didn't really have to be that great in order to work.

Agree with this statement. Future-proofing was, however, a happy side-effect.

For movies yes, but for TV at that time a lot was with video cameras.

We raise children without teaching them to be alert and independent than we ask our selves why there are so many with ADD

This is a great collection! There are a lot of replies adding other examples. I am gonna add Controller Mate, which I use daily.

Just adding to the other responses, one thing I miss whenever I am not on mac is quicklook/preview. Finder can preview most files you browse instantly. be it music, images (including photoshop and raw camera files) video, text, pdf, spreadsheets, docs, etc. Preview is a really amazing and simple app.
