You can disable the background image that in the options under Appearance. It's a holdover from Clementine's branding which I also find annoying. I also dislike the glow animation on currently playing track in the playlist which can also be disabled.

Wait the original was only $15?! I got Hollow Knight in a Humble Bundle so I had no idea how cheap that amazing game was.

No wonder Silksong is only $20. I saw the memes about the devs asking for $20 and assumed it was $20 more like $60=>$80 or something like that.

It's just three blokes and a bunch of contractors. According to Wikipedia Hollow Knight sold more than 15 million copies, at $15 that's $225M. Of course you have store fees, and discounts, and taxes, and whatnot, but all of that accounted for they still made at least dozens of millions – if not more.

It's unclear if they would make more money if it was much more expensive. I picked it up for €19.50 today; not sure I would have paid €80.

Definitely a unicorn success story. I’d be curious about Balatro in a similar vein—-labor of love turns wildly successful

I could get it for $7.99

It was $20 when I got it.

Also, probably the price of the connector. USB A is also a simple standard and no one will expect to treat it as a display out.

The video has covers how Tool and Die wages have dropped below the median wage. We're also importing the tools/molds from China and manufacturing the parts "in the US" instead of the reverse.

I remember another Youtuber Linus Tech Tips creating their own injection molds in BC so that it would be harder for copycats. The entire Screwdriver isn't made in Canada though. The shaft and bits are made in China or somewhere else in Asia IIRC. The reason they were able to do that though is because there already existed an injection molding company nearby for them to work with though.

It's neat finding out that his earlier video on stamping sheet metal and bending it into shapes was actually him doing research for the handle of this scrubber.

Netflix has continually raised prices, and earns more from the ad plans than those paying more for zero ads.

Becoming a paying customer is just a negotiation with advertisers to raise their rates until Netflix concedes to what they want. Since they know you have more discretionary income Netflix can also charge more for ads. They're also incentivized into turning those customers into ad supported by increasing the no ad plan cost.

The patent mentions the ability to aim the pokeball which wasn't in the first 3 Gameboy games.

Does modern Pokémon start battles by throwing a pokeball to release a monster to begin fighting?

>The patent mentions the ability to aim the pokeball which wasn't in the first 3 Gameboy games.

Sure but I'd say aiming is more or less the natural evolution of "$X in 3D instead of 2D." Obviously Nintendo disagrees and perhaps the patent system disagrees (depending on the outcome of whatever court cases happen), but I disagree with them.

> depending on the outcome of whatever court cases happen

do you not mean the bribery of patent agents?

>Does modern Pokémon start battles by throwing a pokeball to release a monster to begin fighting?

yes

To answer your question, starting with Pokemon Legends Arceus[1], battles take place in the same overworld that you explore in.

You can see an example of this in action at 3:12 in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DR7ZooH9Zos

[1]: This also carries over to Pokemon Scarlet/Violet, which is the latest mainline entry and will presumably remain the new standard going forward? Arceus was seen (and received) as more of a paid beta test for the system since the overworld was a bit empty at times

> Does modern Pokémon start battles by throwing a pokeball to release a monster to begin fighting?

In "Let's Go, Pikachu!" and "Let's Go, Eevee!" this was the only way you could catch Pokémon. Just like the way it is in Pokémon Go. (Or was, haven't played in years)

IMO, they should have made it a simple mailed print/postcard subscription with an email newsletter with the jpg wallpaper. You could even provide access to a private wallpaper app that changes it for you monthly if people want that.

LTT has the right mentality that supporting an influencer should give you something physical for your support or when asking a superchat on a livestream that may or may not get answered.

Youtubers regularly swap the video thumbnail + title. Youtube even has tools to A/B test various thumbnails + titles nowadays for different users.

I can confirm that the title "I Hacked My Friend's Phone to Show How Easy It Is" was the actual title when the video was uploaded. However you're right that it now looks like it changed to "Exposing The Flaw In Our Phone System" a day later.

Watch an older Veratasium video about Youtube's title+thumbnail clickbait: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2xHZPH5Sng

This was news to me. Yeah now their title says "Exposing The Flaw In Our Phone System".

+1 for explaination above.
