Person 1 buys the gift card, they are the only ones who can use it to buy events from us - they have no actual cash value, it cannot be transferred to anyone or be used to make purchases for anyone else - the person who buys the gift card gets to use it

Maybe rename it -- a "gift card" is meant to be gifted. Non-transferable value should be a "voucher" or maybe just a "ticket" (to unspecified venue).

I think describing it as a gift card is problematic.

If you described it as "buying access to an event in advance", then it would be fine, but the point of a "gift card" is to "gift" it to someone.
