This is wonderful research and the people that did it deserve accolades. What they proved, however, is the destruction that occurs with brain tissue in extreme trauma occurs on so many different levels it is virtually impossible to intervene adequately in the limited time available. The lesson to me is that we humans need to be a bit more humble and not assume we can fix all our stupid mistakes.

I believe you're correct in saying that university shouldn't just be about getting a high paying job. Our society suffers because our brightest people are too narrowly educated. A physician used to typically be one of the most educated people in a community; now a physician is one of the least educated persons in a community. A pre-med student simply can't risk taking a course they might not ace. Few physicians have studied philosophy, art, political science, literature beyond english 101, etc.

My advice would be to take the minimalComputer Science corses you'll need, you'll end up learning plenty if that's your chosen professeion. Beyond that take courses that expand your horizon's and thinking, You need to decide what courses those will be.

Thanks, but I have already graduated. And although my thoughts about the education I received at university are not really positive for I still believe in the beauty of knowledge. That's why I am asking for suggestions on topics to dive into.

Thank You! It is about rapidly learning about our market. We have existing customers and we're building an add on module. We're going to pole our customers this week about what they want. Do I feel dumb.

That's great!

An important thing to keep in mind is Customer Development and Lean Startup both are very cautious about directly just asking your customers what they want. It's more about validating the problem and then getting the minimal solution in front of them somehow. Hell paper prototyping, RAD... w/e you have to do.

Not saying "You're Doing It Wrong" just throwing an idea out there since I'm not sure exactly where you are mentally with all this. :)

"poll" your customers, please. "pole"ing your customer is very different.
