He's saying the code isn't crap and the attack on it is propaganda. The reason for the strong reactions is pretty simple. The majority of people here program for a living and GPT is a threat to their income.

I doubt anyone who codes professionally is threatened by kids posting chatbot output. There's a widening gap between actual knowledge and people who think they know something because they can regurgitate it. It's exactly like people who think they know about something because they can look it up on the internet. They're super annoying but completely nonthreatening

They were already legal drug dealers, what's the difference?

Cryptocurrency suffers from the same problems if not worse. There have been billions stolen in cryptocurrency due to no regulations and a lack of accountability. In many cases the one robbing the exchanges were the owners themselves...

I'm surprised is wasn't mentioned yet but towards the end of CS:Source, just before Go, Valve nerfed the aiming and added in randomization to bullets fired that couldn't be corrected for. It was done to make the game more approachable to new players as a skill equalizer.

I've purchased many different brands of dried figs and 90% are coming from Turkey, which all have bugs, bug poo or mold in them. The fresh figs I purchased were from either the US or Brazil and didn't have this problem but were extremely expensive.

I don't know which grade is imported by which brand, but we eat a lot of dried figs here (in Turkey), and I know no one felt sick after eating, even considerable amount of these things.

Fresh figs are so expensive because they're extremely delicate and have extremely short shelf life if produced naturally.

Human body is much more resilient than it looks and our food contains much more than meets the eye. Somebody noted FDA's limits about bugs, so I'll not reiterate it here.

I've had a absolutely phenomenal dry figs from Turkey... Truly one of nature's treasures :-)

The wasps are how figs pollinate. They're meant to die there. So if you're eating figs that lack a dead wasp it's likely because it's had a hormone applied to it to induce fruiting despite not being pollinated

That's a myth that does not apply to all fig trees.

It applies to almost every single one of the 855 recognized species of figs. There are cultivars and techniques to make the common fig fruit without being pollinated, but I wouldn't characterize it as a "myth"

It is a bit odd. Considering you can get 800mg of potassium from a single glass of pomegranate juice.

Nowadays everything has large doses of potassium in it due to modern farming practices. They use almost exclusively chemical fertilizer containing potassium, phosphorus and nitrogen.

How do you expect a society that thrives on the exploitation and murder of other life forms to have peace and joy? There's a spiritual crisis happening right now and if you don't change the way you treat other life, yours will continue to get worse.

Talking about animals? That has always been a thing

without bringing veganism into it. I think they have a point about Homo Sapiens too.

Yeah, the open drivers don't matter a whole lot. It just loads the closed source proprietary blob into the gpu. It's a step in the right direction but can be very misleading.

The worst part is when those blobs are signed, then you can't reverse engineer them and replace them with open firmware.

This is one of many ways by which NVIDIA actively sabotages the open source driver effort.

They were catching up at some point, and NVIDIA started doing that.

The good news is that with the new open Linux kernel drivers from NVIDIA, Nouveau folks will be able to use the same signed proprietary firmware as the proprietary userspace component of the NVIDIA drivers. So that should unblock development of the open userspace component of the libre Nouveau drivers too.

How does the speed of Mathematica compare to python or C?

The other issue is it draws in young people because of the high reward and exposes them to a lot of dangers. It sets unrealistic expectations and wrecks their social dynamics.

the ironic thing about this is that lifting when you're young is the best time to start, as that is when your T is at its peak and your body is growing and changing like crazy anyway

the people that look really good in their 30s, 40s and beyond usually started in their teens and kept the results.
