Self censored headline to avoid flagging?
"Amazon, Facebook, ICE, and the FBI have access to a private intelligence-sharing network operated by Seattle police"
So close. If we shouldn't be recycling them, why not walk back up the chain to the start? Plastics are useful, but should be regulated and used in moderation. Ideally, we would use aluminum instead as that seems to be recyclable, but i assume most cans are coated with some sort of plastic on the inside anyway.
I would hope it's a health code violation for a food processing employees to handle something given to them by a customer while processing food without either changing gloves or washing hands.
People are nit picking methodology when it's not even possible to recycle #5. Just throw it in the trash, there's no point wish-cycling. It only messes up the machines that shred and recycle the plastics that are recyclable (#s 1 and 2).
Using Twitter in 2026 is a political statement. I don't consume it, but using Twitter would be supporting right wing extremism (or whatever you classify Musk as).
Maybe, but this is not what they claim in their post. Their official reason is that the numbers are not working out.
And even if that was the reason, that doesn't make sense. They're an activist organisation, their goal is to promote their ideas to people that need to hear them, and twitter users need that more than bluesky users.
Btw. I login to twitter once every few months to share my blog post or report. That's not a political statement.
I replied to a comment, not EFF. EFF is doing the correct thing, but very late. I'm not advocating for one platform over another.
It is indirectly a political statement to use Twitter. You are supporting Elon Musk who has made himself a central figure in extreme right wing political views.
There are tons of famous people on Twitter who I'm pretty sure are not doing it as a statement of Musk alignment. There's not really any other place they'd be.
It's my opinion that the most powerful weapon consumers have is the power to vote with your time and money. Using Twitter is voting to support Elon Musk whether intentional or not.
are you familiar with tesla? i'm not super, but am aware of their public things. they introduced fake marketing products called full self driving and autopilot that don't do those things. apparently this person karpathy was in charge of computer vision there. he led the team who is responsible for these systems that occupy our roads which can't navigate due to such outstanding occurrences as sunlight, precipitation, and fog.
i don't know a great deal about the guy. i know: he worked at tesla, led autopilot there. if we ignore the character defects required to work at tesla, he's responsible for designing systems that would certainly kill people because they decided lidar was too expensive.
Building a tech and falsely advertising it to be something else that what it is (e.g. self driving instead of driving assistance) can typically done by different people. Lacking specific evidence, it's reckless to accuse this person.
right. i'm mostly ignorant of the subject and rushing to judgement based on bias. but he did lead the computer vision team for years at tesla that created autopilot. didn't resign in protest and to my knowledge hasn't apologized, but again i'm ignorant and not seeking new data.
