Mail, VPN, Pass & Drive have been great for me over the past year. The lack of proper native desktop applications has been a setback for a few colleagues and is worth considering before migrating.

Hi! Note that we now have desktop apps for Proton Mail (Windows and macOS, Linux in beta, all come with integrated Proton Calendar), Proton VPN (Windows, macOS, Linux), Proton Drive (Windows and macOS), and Proton Pass (Windows, macOS in early beta).

Ex-IT Auditor and I agree. I was screaming for automation in the audit process for years and nobody would listen. Many of the employees are burnt-out and hate their jobs. My prediction is that governments will decide to audit companies using some kind of AI and report back any findings to shareholders, while ensuring correct taxes are paid. Big 4 has 5 years max to pivot their business or they're going to die.

Honestly, this seems like a lose-lose for decision makers: - automation reduces billable hours, a net loss to the auditor - automation finds more fraud, a net loss to the person who hired the good auditor

Of course, shareholders would appreciate less fraud, but have no seat at this particular table.

I guess ERP companies are better placed to offer this kind of thing than an accountancy?

Could you share how you structure your cards for this ? I've been using Anki for a few months and I've yet to find a way to cover CS topics appropriately.

I'm an ex Big4 auditor and you're right. I know HN likes to bash these kinds of companies but they're full of highly competent people that are managed by idiots. These tests are bullshit internal things, think "Phishing awareness" with some stupid 20 question quiz on if you should open an email attachement or not.

They're also working absolutely insane hours, especially during "busy season", and are expected to complete the training in their spare time or time off. It's usually tied to your bonus too, if you haven't done the yearly training you've worked for nothing. Anyone in their shoes would have looked for the answers to save 40 hours of bullshit training on top of an 80-100 hour work week.

I've been looking into working there for quite some time. Is there a possibility of working remotely if you're on an IT team ?

From what I know, you can't. I'm guessing you are asking if you can reside in another country. They do have liberal work from home policy but you will be hired in Denmark and that means you have to be residing in Denmark and have valid Danish Yellow (social security) card.

Disappointing but if relocation is interesting I might pursue the opportunity further down the line, thanks for the reply.

Started Zwift back in February and it's one of the best things I've ever done for myself. I love the fact that it can be whatever you want : a structured workout program, a way to casually ride around a map or a way to compete against other riders. The initial investment can be quite high, but a normal road bike and less advanced home trainer are good enough for someone just starting out.
