Pretty much Non-US persons for Non-US Remote jobs. Almost all Remote Job boards prioritize US-based Remote Jobs, which can get a bit difficult for someone who just wants a job.
I am currently job hunting, and I also use WeWorkRemotely.
I was just wondering there are any others that are getting missed when I search on Google.
And yeah I've had to do that as well, even though they list it as Worldwide, it really is just from like 5 countries in Europe, no hate. I get it.
Wish you all the best on completing your city builder game!
Last year I started my own indie studio. [1] The game I have released right now, is an interactive fiction game. Its pretty short - just 15 minutes. I originally created it because I wanted to release a game jam project I had been working on. A first person 3D adventure set in a retro inspired world that was evolving as you played. I ran into a lot of problems because I realized I architect-ed the game poorly in Godot.
But thankfully messing around in Godot leveled up my skills there, so I've been hard at work on a new game. I am trying to launch it right on steam. I'm not really ready to show this one off to the public just yet.
Its honestly been pretty challenging doing all this by myself, I've been trying to release a commercial-grade game since I was maybe like 12 (I am now in my late 20s).
For the other solo developers in this thread, its absolutely hard, but don't burn yourself out, and don't forget about the world around you. Its tempting to pour every single waking moment into your work. Sometimes taking a step back is enough to solve that issue you've been having in your game's logic.
So basically I tried to solve the 'Bookmark Problem' by creating a simple user focused search engine, user builds a list of bookmarks, and the app, Mrkff, allows you to search your bookmarks as if it were google, but tailored to your own content.
If you would allow me to plug my own personal bookmarking app - Mrkff [0] - pronounced `Mark off`. I went through YC in 2019 for it, and I launched it in 2020.
I also built a cross-platform web-extension for it too using a small framework (Desolate-Zero) I made for the web extensions to make use of all the features of both chrome and firefox. It just a simple click extension and click bookmark and the server takes care of the rest.
Basically I opted to make a full-text searchable version of every webpage I bookmark. A copy is also stored on the server, I intended to paywall downloading the actual webpage text, but make it searchable in the free version. This way I can search for obscure words or phrases that were on the webpage that I remembered while not remembering the actual webpage. I had an auto tag system on it too derived from the actual text of the web page. V2 is set to expand from text to video, pdf, audio etc.
I had a lot of fun with it, but this version is lacking in certain aspects, and I've spent the last 6 months working on version 2 of this app. I certainly didn't know how widespread this type of app was to be honest. But I use my solution on the daily, so I'll probably continue working on it.
Have you considered B2B? A lot of small companies would love shared bookmarks to have some employees discover more easily things that were previously bookmarked by other employees.
Like a shared knowledge base? I hadn't thought about it like this before, but thank you. As I'm writing this all the possibilities are just flooding my mind. I will be looking into this for V2. Thank you so very much.
give me your email and let's talk :) I can try to introduce you to first potential clients. This way you'll confirm product market fit.
Think simple: even something that could just ingest bookmarks from chrome/edge sqlite database and process them into a custom search engine (that would NOT expose said links to say google, even if they are public links) using good old tf-idf would be extremely valuable.
or perhaps you meant how they (sport betting sites) find what i am doing, well not sure i assume once you make some decent money its not relevant how you did it, they just wont allow it further..
It's not just mobile. I normally have my browser on my desktop take half my screen, and when I visit the page, I just see super-huge icons that take up all the viewing area. I need to be on full-screen to make any sense of what I'm seeing.
Hey everyone, for the last Startup School (September2019), I submitted this application - Mrkff. It still need work then but I have decided to carry it forward and release Mrkff in Alpha state as I continue to work on it.
Please feel free to leave any amount of criticism and advice. This is the first time I am releasing a product of any kind to the public, thank you all for checking it out.
Also as a note. I have gained an immense amount of respect for developers who work in the Natural Language Processing field. In this product I use several libraries to parse keywords to try my best to find keywords in the page that accurately represent the content.
I had to learn quite a bit about NLP so that I could create proper summaries. The algorithm I designed for summaries isn't ready for production right now since it still produces poor results, but I will be updating and releasing new features over the next few months.
A quick tweak of the css breakpoints might be a good idea - on my iPhone 11 the home page text is just slightly off screen in a one character wide column about six miles long (and a bit difficult to read). I can believe the product is super interesting but I can't actually tell in this format.
