Suppose you learnt some skill all by yourself like drawing, animation, illustration, coding, designing, etc.

Have you been able to make your skill profitable be starting a venture or business?

I have not yet, but I'm trying to transform my 20 years of exp in software development into a game about software development - https://devmanager.carrd.co Check in a year if that worked out.

I am sorry but this sounds revolting! :) I don't want the ghost of my day time job to haunt me after hours.

currently working on it - turning things I've learned, projects I want to do, and my aggregation of interesting links into content to drive traffic to my two very niche job boards. I started taking it seriously about 1.5 month ago and have since grown one of them to about ~1.5-2k visitors/month. Still working on growing that and translating that to sales.

https://signalprocessingjobs.com - a job board for signal processing engineers. An emphasis on modems, software defined radio, and general DSP.

https://hardwareteams.com - a job board for electrical and computer engineers.
