I have a Fossil magnetic money clip that I've had for years. It's slightly larger than the size of a credit card and about half inch thick. Goes in the front pocket and I barely notice it. Shares that pocket with a pen[1] and car key+fob; phone goes in the other front pocket. A Moleskine (of the thin variety) lives in the back pocket.
Been pretty happy with that 'set-up'.
[1] Either a Bic Atlantis, whose clicking action and writing smoothness I adore, or a Zebra which is a fantastic pocket citizen due to its being metal and its size, and leaves clean, thin lines.
I didn't think this particular post was all that bad. He gave links to several products, described his experiences with them, and talked about something that we all deal with -- how to carry around our stuff. Nothing wrong with talking about that. (Several other HNers have posted about their wallet stuff here, so there's interest at least)
I'd be wary of dismissing every Atwood post out of hand.
I have an all-ett. It is indeed uber thin and unnoticeable in my back pocket. It is sometimes so thin that I have a hard time opening it. I believe it will put an end to back pockets wearing thin and stretching out or growing holes. I like it.
I don't carry around a pen in my wallet -- that goes into one of the pockets of my coat, along with a notepad -- but I do have a flashlight in my wallet.
Looking forward to Jeff's next post - a comprehensive study into the colour of his keyboard. Highlights include the little blemish on the H key and that slight greenish tinge to the letter markings. I'll be reading that one over and over again for months.
