App Developers: Introducing the Arc - the review and rating exchange club (thearc.io)

Why can't people just get honest reviews? You know, from users? When I think about services like this, or services that let you pay for installs, I think they are not good for buyers of apps, and therefore not good for the world.

Here's a can't-fail formula for getting plenty of good reviews, that won't cost your integrity:

1) write a great app

2) put a widget in your app that asks for reviews

3) show the widget to users who like the app

I concur, with one exception. I've repeatedly gotten negative feedback from users because there was a rate-this-app screen in there. So the rate-this-app screen isn't a perfect solution either.

Sounds like you aren't being conservative enough with who you show the widget to. Just show it to people who use the app a lot, recently, and over a long period of time.

This assumes that app developers are the superior demographic to give reviews. I don't think that this is the case, as app developers are far from representative, and won't necessarily reflect the sentiments of the market.

I agree that reviews need to be fixed, but isolating app developers is not the way to go about it. This seems absurd.

The concept of getting reviews from other developers is good, but why should the review be on the App Store? An app developer's review is not weighted more than a review from a normal user. This system can be kept out of the App Store altogether.

This sounds like an excellent way to get your apps banned from the store

I don't think I would trust reviews from a "mutual admiration society."
