I run a bootstrapped company. At the 3 year mark, I was just about in the same situation. Barely profitable, not enough cash to build a team, and making a lot of mistakes along the way. It's a tough spot to be in, especially when your competitors are getting all the attention. We're in a much better shape now, but it took another 3 years.
I'm guessing you'll eventually go back to founding a company, and you'll be better at it thanks to all the work you've done so far, and the experience you'll acquire at Facebook (yes, it helps seeing how large organizations are run, there are plenty of things they do well), so don't anguish too much over it, and thanks for sharing your perspective.
