Dude, people are not judging you. And, the world is not turning around you either. So, relax a little bit. If this is how you are going to cope with life, it is fine. But, you might appear to react to something that doesn't exist. Just saying... People are usually nice, and when they aren't, be sorry for them, not angry.

Just my 0.02 cents.

I don't think the author was making the point that people are always judging you, the author is saying to get over or disregard the fact the people may judge you. It has to be a common mindset that people care what others think about them.

This is an extremist view.

Humans tend to take extremist views, black or white, see half the posts in this thread: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=5157092 or this: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=5106767.

The real answer is usually somewhere in the grey.

There's a subtle, but big difference between thinking less about yourself, and thinking less of yourself.

Not giving a f-ck is about ignoring unimportant things, and not caring what anyone thinks about important things.

It's not about others, it's about you.

Try to remember how much anything matters in a few years.

Why is this garbage on the front page? Hacker News isn't for antisocial 12-year-olds, chronological age or otherwise.

It isn't for antisocial 12 year olds, you're right. Its for Entrepreneurs and Technologists, many of whom can be very sensitive to what others think.

While this isn't the best article in the world, I think its a good lessor (or reminder) to give less of a fuck. I know giving less of a fuck did my life a world of good, but sometimes I go off and start becoming sensitive to other peoples thoughts and opinions. Its a good reminder that what other people think about you shouldn't have such a strong hold over you.
