Two years ago I was diagnosed with Axial Spondylarthritis - an auto-immune condition that causes inflammation, stiffness, and quite a lot of pain on my neck, spine, shoulders, and hips. This plus the constant blunder on behalf of most companies I've worked or was looking to work for, not doing the two most important things that would keep them afloat 1) shipping fast, and 2) talking to their customers - has caused me quite a lot of anxiety and has lead me to decide launching my own project - something I believe in, make use of, and that I can work on my own terms - Exocortex.
Exocortex is a private and secure application for networked note-taking that allows you to explore relationships between your thoughts and ideas, where your data is protected by employing AES-GCM 256 bit encryption, salted hashing, and PBKDF2 SHA-256 on your device - same technology (and architecture) used by popular password managers to protect your data.
Networked note-taking, or networked thought, is a method of organizing and linking notes and ideas in a way that mimics the associative nature of human memory. Instead of keeping notes in isolated, linear formats, networked note-taking encourages the creation of a web of interconnected information. This method of note-taking has been popularized by apps like Roam Research, Obsidian, and LogSeq.
Exocortex aims to be a secure, cohesive, and well crafted platform for personal knowledge management, with the potential to expand into the task management space, focusing on principles and methodologies that are known to be effective and easy to follow, with a user interface that gets out of the way and prevents you from procrastinating building and maintaining your own systems instead of actually getting work done.
