I've never heard of this podcast, despite listening to a fair number of podcasts. Are these download numbers (500k+) that impressive for a podcast that only releases episodes monthly? (I also wonder how many people actually listen to such a long podcast; I would imagine the listen percentage is lower for longer podcasts in general.)
