Is robotics about to have its own ChatGPT moment? (technologyreview.com)

If I want to learn about this field and is somewhat familiar with only the classical approach to robotics, how should I get started?

I am covering this on my blog Encylopedia Autonomica.

Take a hint from the title and ask ChatGPT?

It will give you a list of really obvious “why didn’t think of that” ways to get started.

Just commenting on the headline here: "ChatGPT moment" feels a lot like "iPhone moment".

My impression is that those are almost opposite.

iPhone was the public discovering that a product is ready after it has been ready for years. ChatGPT is the public discovering a product is ready years before it becomes ready for anything.

Same vibe, but "Is [game/image editor] a [DOOM/Photoshop] killer?" becoming "Is [new model] a ChatGPT killer?"

It's getting very tiring to read this on every submission with a question mark in the title. The article is good.
