Someone off topic, are there any trust-worthy sites that describe step by step how to make vape juice and where to source the materials in the same manor that the legit producers today use? As a prepper I like to stock up on things that can be traded for food.
I am mixing my vape juice at home. The ingredients are always the same and chemically quite straight forward:
Vegetable Glycerine (VG)
Propylene Glycol (PG)
These are usually mixed 50-50 and give you the juice / liquid base. You can buy those pre-mixed but AFAIK that is not good for long term storage.
You then add Nicotine (optional) and for flavor any regular food aromas.
Vape shops should be able to supply you with these things in bulk sizes. Make sure they are in proper containers for long term storage. I think I heard that Nicotine is not chemically stable but I might be wrong.
Flavoring should not be used in vape juice. There is none approved for inhalation and it is what causes most issues.
If you want to make your own, just use VG/PG and nicotine.
Gotta ask, is this really for harm reduction moving from cigarettes? Those were not flavored and we use them for the nicotine. So why should people add flavor to vape juice if it doesn't do anything besides increase risk of harm?
Nah, menthol is added to make the smoke easier on the throat so it’s easier to start smoking. Menthol is also a kappa-opioid agonist which means it causes dysphoria (the opposite of euphoria) for a longer time than the nicotine-MAOI combination causes euphoria, leading users to get another fix.
The last one is difficult, but it is possible to grow your own tobacco and extract the alkaloids. That, however, will result in an impure mixture of various nicotine salts, other alkaloids, plant oils and whatnot, so you will probably want to stock up on unflavored nicotine liquid while you can.
I might just stock up on the Nicotine if it is stable. Processing the plants sounds tricky. I will read up on it though just in case it has other uses.
Puberty blockers are probably far worse in the long run. Since we're now running both experiments in parallel let's circle back in 10 years and see how it panned out
