While I appreciate the Jacques is a long standing and valuable contributor to HN and the startup community, I think posts like this simply encourage domain squatting and we should avoid up-voting them.

Isn't this the same fella who blogged about how ridiculous it was to buy color.com for 300k?

Not crying foul or anything. Just curious.

As far as I can see, he's selling the business, not just the domain. I'm not sure how much of the price is the domain, though.

And as for the "domain squatting" accusation... I don't see how that can apply to ww.com since it seems to be up and running at this moment.

A bit of context: the guy selling this is a longtime HNer: http://news.ycombinator.com/user?id=jacquesm

you should donate p2pu.com to p2pu.org since they are doing amazing work for a great cause

I know you said "don't ask", but... camel market?

Awesome, domain squatting advertising on HN.

These prices are way out there - 50k for adprofs.com? I am in the ad business and wouldn't pay more than $500 for that.

I am amazed at how much some domains are priced.

Why would NWSRC.com be worth $500 for example?

Hoarding domain names (that you don't intend to use) solely to sell them on for (extortionate) prices is a horrible practice.

If you're not using a name, let it expire.

The world would be a better place if people weren't greedy like this.

Supply & demand, capitalism, etc etc.

A quick sum of reserve prices in the table: $4,921,150.

$4,961,650.00

You missed the wrongly labeled 40K from LIRAMA.COM ;) Because he mentions the list will be updated, this count was made on August 17th 2011, 15:26 CET.

$3mm of that is ww.com, which is a business in it's own right. So the remaining domains are around $2mm.
