The WWW is 30 years old today (history.com)

Huh, I was very lucky to have used the web before the launch of Mosaic, using the Terminal based Lynx bowser. I worked at the UK Forestry Commission research agency and we had Telnet access to a computer at Edinburgh University.

I remember when Mosaic was announced, so it must have been between the launch of Lynx in 1992 and Mosaic in early 1993. That's a pretty narrow window.

A year or two later I demoed Mosaic to some of the research staff, showing off some web sites with some basic Biology information and illustrations. It was a real struggle to get them to see the potential, understandably I suppose. I wonder if any of them remember that demo today.

Funny that this link itself is talking about the history of the WWW but uses AMP...

RIP

At this point, I can't help thinking it created more problems than it solved.

I read that momentarily as "WWII" and then I thought that when the first microcomputers were coming out, it was about 30 years since the end of WWII.

To put another way, more time has passed since the 1977 introduction of the Apple II, TRS-80, and Commodore PET than the time between the end of World War II in 1945 and those computers' debuts.
