Warmer doesn't imply milder.
"Everything is hotter" = "there is more energy in the system", which is evident from the uptick in both the number of powerful storms and their intensity. Warmer air can hold more moisture which is leading to heavier downpours and bringing floods. Perturbation of atmospheric and oceanic streams is leading to strange pressure systems maintaining much colder weather for days in some places in unpredictable ways as we've seen on the east coast of the US the last few winters.
