Apple drops price of AppleCare+ for laptops, with an extra discount for M1 (9to5mac.com)

It's odd to have different AppleCare pricing for different laptops, but it actually does make sense that they're charging less for Apple silicon. It presumably costs them less to repair/replace these devices than Intel-based laptops.

>It's odd to have different AppleCare pricing for different laptops,

Apple Care is just insurance. So it makes sense to have % of product as their pricing.

Sure, but are the M1 laptops 20% less expensive than the Intel counterparts? I think this is more about Apple's cost to repair, not the retail price. From that perspective, it's an interesting insight into the different margins Apple may enjoy from this switch, since the retail prices are largely in line with the pricing of Intel laptops.

Yes. I agree. From an BOM cost perspective. Yes they are less expensive. And It was clear Apple priced their MBA not too cheap to causes too much damage to their Intel lineup.
