Ask HN: Has anyone made a web support chat based on Matrix?

Hello,

I've been looking at integrating a support chat into a website (which has live interactions, making a support chat more interesting than support tickets), and I've been thinking that Matrix could be a great system for that.

Has anyone already made some web support chat like this (ie. very simple user popover like interface interacting with a Matrix backend; the operators using a regular matrix client)?

You could piece it together with https://github.com/nomadic-labs/safesupport-chatbox (intercom like matrix chat box) and https://github.com/maubot/supportportal (does the operator management). Ping me if you need help! @eric:beeperhq.com

Yes, I (and my teammates) are currently doing this. What specifically are you looking for? Are you wanting to build one yourself and looking for advice, or are you looking for a service that provides a turnkey solution?

Looking if an existing solution is available; we could build it ourselves obviously, but it's not a core feature and it seems a lot like a reusable thing to build as a library.

Ahh, ok. What we have built probably isn't for your specific need, as we utilize matrix as the underlying core technology, but we enhance it with the concept of support tickets on our support SaaS. If you are looking for a quick plugin where you just connect to an existing matrix homeserver, then you will probably need to build that.

I would love to have an embedable matrix chat room (that can point to an arbitrary public room) that works as twitch live chat equivalent. That would be amazing.

That would be awesome if they did.
