What an absurd story, I wonder how long until someone buys the movie rights and it stars a bumbling fool, maybe Will Farrell or someone.

I can't help but wonder if he somehow actually thought the plan was foolproof as he always planned to get the victim to pay up and thus avoid having to kill anyone.

The old site is archived at the Internet Archive http://web.archive.org/web/20060816064646/http://hitmanforhi...

From the home page:

"Hitman is the perfect solution for your killing needs. We offer a variety of professional assassination services available worldwide. Whether you are trying to put an end to a domestic dispute or eliminate your business competitors, we have the solution for you."

Even better:

An employment application on hitmanforhire.com which asks for your criminal background. I'm not sure if they're looking for a clean record or not, or someone who's already a criminal.

Well, if you reason it out, which applicant is less likely to get the company in trouble? The one who gets caught, or the one who doesn't?

But isn't pretending you're this guy and trying to determine what you'd do based on what's smart and rational kind of a glaring contradiction?

Well, if you want to talk about that sort of thing, I'm not sure it makes a lot of sense to trust anything an applicant for this sort of job might say about his criminal record.

Or anything else.

tl;dr: Somebody put up a website advertising hit-men for hire. Nobody died, but the site is dead.

I'd be interested - could someone provide a justification for this belonging on Hacker News? How is it something that "... gratifies one's intellectual curiosity."

OK, it's a fun read, but in what way is it specific to Hackers as opposed to a general, generic audience. This is something I can easily see covered on TV news, and so according to the guidelines, it's probably off-topic.

I haven't flagged it. Sunday is a slow day, so I'm not all that surprised to see it here. But I'm a little disappointed.

What have I missed? Why is it here?

ADDED IN EDIT (when the votes stood at -3):

Oh, c'mon peeps. It's completely your right to downvote, I have no problems with that, but at least give some justification, some rationale. As far as I can see this submission is, according to the guidelines, off-topic. Please, please, help me understand why you think it's on-topic.

A lot of people here are also concerned about starting up businesses of the tech variety, as well as reading about successes and failures with said endeavors. This particular one is so off the wall that it's worthy of mention.

You are seeing the result from the influx of new people. It's almost time to move on :-/

Wow, did the guy really think he wouldn't get caught? Sounds like the guy is better off behind bars.
