We still trust photos 100 years after they were edited in the darkroom.

As ever, context matters. This isn't some armaggeddon scenario where suddenly either anyone can be stitched up for anything or all evidence must be thrown out.




The real issue is it shifts the burden of proof to the accused.

The US uses a common law system, juries won’t buy it until the average person grasps how easy it is to make high quality fake videos. Navigating the court system is both time consuming and expensive.

We’re not only talking about courts, though. Private parties like an employer may have different standards or could use this information as leverage.
