It wouldn't change the fact that I don't use it (I almost never work with images) but it would definitely change the fact that I don't recommend it to anyone outside of the FOSS community.
I am not from a region that uses the name as a slur, but even the reference to an unsavory scene in Pulp Fiction and the overall negative connotation make it awkward at best and with the fact that it is a slur I run the risk of being downright offensive for no good reason. I just recommend Krita and explain that it's not an exact photoshop place in and that there are other options out there as well.
> Bottom line: you should work at the level of technology that best does the job. Anything beyond that is nothing but toots and whistles guaranteed to do nothing more than put money in Bill Gates's pocket.

> People say to me, "But the computer makes it easier." It shouldn't BE easier!! Art is not supposed to be "easier." Art is supposed to be harder. Commerce should be easy. Friendships should be easy. Good marriages should be easy. Driving a car should be easy. Getting laid should be easy. Art should be DIFFICULT.
really speak to me. We've spent so much time trying to optimize our lives away and I believe it's costing us so much more in the long run. The second point in particular is a big part of why I believe AI (LLMs) being used for artistic fields (creative writing, image generation, etc.) is either a fad or a very unfortunate change in how we interact with the world around us.
Administration and participation in arguments or opinion based debates should not coincide. Using a personal account for personal issues instead of using an administrator is more respectable in my opinion.
Other than routine moderation comments, my comments have all been focused on correcting falsehoods or misconceptions about HN moderation, including claims or insinuations about YC management’s explicit or implicit influence on HN moderation.
Can you point to a comment of mine where that's not the case? I'll happily have it pointed out so I can avoid it in future.
While I believe the commenter above was referring to electric pickup truck options, this is a very nicely laid out comment and I appreciate the effort put into it.
Islam typically sides with people doing what they have to to live, including eating pork if that is what it takes to survive. In regards to abortion, the mothers life takes paramount.
> because your hate is so totally different from their kind of hate
I just want to suggest that there may be a difference between hating a person for something they were born with, or for an uncontrollable feature of a person, compared to hating someone for explicit choices they have made.
Not saying that hating people for any reason is necessarily okay, but I think an argument can be made that there is a difference between those two cases of hatred.
And what if the person if mentally on the severely disabled end of the spectrum? They still made a choice based on your distinction and it is hardly a given that they were born with it. As always, the drawing lines makes the difference ( and naturally adds a focus on people drawing the lines ).
FWIW, I do get what you are trying to say, but I am not sure you considered the other side of the equation.
Autism isn't an excuse for hate, and folks on the spectrum don't like this argument, because it portrays them as being unable to have any control over their thought.
If you haven't heard about it already I think you'd be interested in the [ReactOS](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ReactOS#Development) project which has been working on building an OS that is binary compatible with Windows Server 2003 while being GPL licensed. It's far from daily drivable but it's a fascinating little project.
