I wonder, how difficult would it be to do something similar for "Onyx Boox Tab X C 13.3" ?
Btw, did Onyx publish sources as required by GPLv3 for that device? AFAIK there are no sources in the open (if I am not mistaken ) and I have no idea what can push them toward publishing them.
>Firefox, Safari, and Vivaldi are all better alternatives, and Vivaldi is built by some former Opera employees, including former Opera Software CEO Jon von Tetzchner.
It can already kind-of do a REPL, so it'd be about making sure access to that functionality was robust, and then it's a matter of removing packages from the system until it's as small as you'd like. Assuming a subtractive approach, of course. There are other interesting subtractive approaches like Craig Latta's "Context" (nee Spoon) http://www.netjam.org/spoon/ which does something a bit like a page cache, marking used methods, classes, etc and eventually garbage-collecting those not used. In Craig's system, there's an upstream over the network from which missing classes/methods/etc can be faulted in, so this isn't as scary as it sounds. Then there are the additive approaches, which I've kind of lost track of, but there are several on the go, for compiling a fresh image from scratch from sources.
If one needs to run Squeak in a very minimum VM . Is it possible? Any help with that?
I tried to make vm in Squeak turning off graphics/sound and compiled vm but it just didn’t work when I was trying to run it.
Is there a relatively simple way to remove all fancy objects and keep only bare minimum that would at least run it so I can learn it further?
It has to be VM that gives repl through terminal and ability to modify image further, vm need to run without breaking if graphics/sound not available when even linux drivers aren’t available, on pi zero w let’s say.
With my current limitations I cannot dive into learning the language deeply in any other different setup.
Is it possible? I am sure someone have already done that somewhere. I am really trying to avoid dealing with c++ but the way vm is done it seems that instead of learning Squeak I have to dive into all the ‘beauty’ of compiling c with cmake instead.
The only thing I wish to add is that this kind of “selectiveness” of facts by those who argue with Israel existence is by itself one of the main reasons for Israel creation in the first place.
Hi, it’s very beautiful app and very nice write-up. I am a solo developer too with attitude to the quality of apps very similar to yours and in my case it is a file manager for Mac OS. The file manager is written in objective-c as well and was gradually developed for some years already. It is very lightweight and I am using it daily as working horse to test and monitor it’s quality. It is at polishing stage now and when I am thinking about certain integration with text editor I believe it should be nothing less than something like you’ve made. Your attention to details and quality of user experience is facilitating and very resonate with with my approach to my app. I was not thinking about something particular at the moment but I thought may be there is an opportunity for us to cooperate in some form at some point and be generally in touch perhaps.
