Doing an import is hardly going to ruin your existing installation. Back up your blog and do the Jekyll import, and see if it’s worth switching to you. :)

Indeed! It is rather a limit on time. :P

I actually don’t know how fast Jekyll builds blog posts nowadays, but it has been a little on the slow side at one point.

No idea how it’d handle 500 blog posts - but there’s only one way of finding out!

No idea either but for when you do here is the Hugo breakdown:

  302 pages created
  267 categories created
  gin 1149 ms

  real 0m1.613s
  user 0m1.180s
  sys 0m0.408s

(October 2014 - this isn't a new round.)

And the JS and images are probably cached anyway, since they don't change like the rest of the design.

The font is very thin on Windows Chrome (which sounds like a broken record, because this has always been the case). If you intend to use that font for a general audience, make the colour darker or bump up the font weight.

Thanks.

Show up wearing a surgery mask. That'll give them a clue.

In Korea they do this, and no one so much as blinks. Sick days also don't exist in that country. If you're not literally in the hospital, you're expected to show up for work.

My mom once got a Dyson vacuum cleaner.

I can only assume Dyson pivoted from making a jet engine.

It's the only one where vacuuming becomes kind of fun because it actually works

I bought a dyson. To test it, I vacuumed with my old unit, and then immediately vacuumed with my dyson. surprise, I managed to completely fill the canister.

they're noisy and expensive, but they work really well.

I really hope browser races doesn’t get boiled down to performance, but also things like resource-hogging, which has made it practically impossible for me to use Chrome on my MacBook.

If Edge can be to Windows 10 what Safari is to OS X, I’ll try to do what I can to move my browser workflow to Edge as much as possible.

Static blogs are doing pretty well, but setting up a sepparate interface or flow for writers - not admins and developers - is still a big of a chore, unless you don’t mind giving people full access to the site repo.

I’m thinking about setting up a separate draft and post repo and importing them into the root with git subtree.

Another seemingly imperceptible disruption is vibration, ie "physical noise". I had the bottom-of-the-totem-pole pleasure of having the (open) office space right by the restroom, kitchen, and coffee machine.

The major noises were not the main problem; the problem was the stress of people beelining for either of the three with the felicity of an elephant stampede.

Add to this office congestion the pleasure of a female stampede of high heels or male Italian shoes.

Which is not to say that a coffee machine can't shake the foundation of the building like a malcontent washing machine.

It's driven me up the fucking wall, and it is by far my biggest annoyance with an open office.

Keep this in mind, the next time you or someone else goes on about dress code - or taking things easy. Hell, give your employees the option of company-provided sneakers. Then you can still dictate style guidelines.

Either that or give people a goddamn vibration-dampened fastlane.

When I hear something like this, it sound like your pleading for padded shackles. My heart goes out to you.

A friend of mine worked at a place where he was next to metal door to the outside that slammed shut loudly all day. He wore those big industrial earmuffs to try to block it out. This is the Phd physicist/developer who did all the hard math for them...

To my developer brethren (and sisters!), work doesn't have to be like that. There are companies that treat their developers well. You really need to interview the company during the job interview, talk to people that work there before you go, do your research.
