He's already stated his desire for Tesla to be the first to market with autonomous vehicles.

With the capability to enable it by just a press of a button at Tesla HQ, he can wait for the last possible moment and still be first.

> I heart Airbnb but the idea that it doubled in value in less than a year and is worth almost as much as say Marriott, which owns real estate, generated almost $2 billion in EBITDA in the past 12 months and returns cash to shareholders in the form of a dividend, is absurd.

There is a good chance the traditional hotel companies will all be on Airbnb's platform sooner or later, hence the valuation you see here.

They should sell the beacons so you can attach them to things like your keys and wallet.

Agreed, or when you're travelling, your passport .. few things are as important as that when you travel. Was on a family holiday recently and only found out it had gone missing upon check-in for the return flight.

There's a few products available like this already... http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/bluetooth-tracking-devices/

Already been done. You can get Estimote Stickies (http://estimote.com). I go their larger Beacons when the first came out to play with there SDK. Works very nice :)

Looks like they just enabled phishing / malware / etc sites that can target unsupervised kids and show innocuous content to everyone else.

Beware - keeping your bitcoin in a wallet you do not absolutely control (like Coinbase), you can and almost certainly will lose them at a moment's notice, sooner or later.

-----

While I agree, the same can be said about running your own wallet unless you are meticulous about backups and security.

This is not necessarily true. Electrum generates your addresses deterministically from a list of words given to you which are generated from a random seed.

You just write down these words and store them in a safe place, and you will always be able to recover your coins.

(This doesn't prevent against your computer being hacked, of course, but it does encrypt your private keys and require a password before sending anything, which is reasonable.)

"can" is true "almost certainly will" is pure speculation.

Nothing is more certain actually, like how the sun will one day surely die.

-----

it's not nearly certain that your bitcoins will be stolen, particularly if you don't consider what happens to them after your death.

-----

You're right, just because 100% of bitcoin businesses have stolen all their users' money and disappeared, there's no guarantee that this one will too.

Looking forward to Musk's response!

With apps like these (horizon etc) - if they are any good won't Apple simply build it into their default camera app sooner rather than later? I'm curious, what's the product or business plan here?

-----

How accurate is it?

-----

It looks like it displays time in 10-minute increments, so you ought to be able to get solar time to the nearest five or six minutes, provided you aim it accurately.

Note that solar time will differ from UTC depending on where you are in your timezone.

Fork it.

This is incredibly annoying. For the last couple of months the FB app has been switching me to the messenger app every time I accidentally hit the messenger button in the middle of the bottom navbar. And every single time it nags me with a full screen interstitial asking me to turn on notifications!!! Removing all FB apps now.
