I'm a huge Susskind fan. One of the coolest books I've read was his "The Black Hole War". And he's got tons of his lectures (full lectures from Stanford) on YouTube -- so if you're curious you can hear it straight from him.
I just scanned it but it looks awesome! Thanks for putting this together! I didn't look terribly hard but did you mention the work of Ziegler and Golbeck: "Investigating interactions of trust and interest similarity"? It's a bit old (2006) but I think it's a great reference for real-world engines and helped me a ton back in the day.
* We've got 20+ years of experience in making games and wanted to leverage this expertise to make a game that will help fund our charity.
* We're a completely new and indie company.
* Our team worked on World of Warcraft, Starcraft, Command and Conquer, Mercenaries 2, and several others.
* Professionals from NASA/JPL and USC are helping out so we can make the game educational, and scientifically correct (see the video on our site). But not so "educational" as to ruin the fun in the game.
Agreed. It is amazing how it is possible for a product development team to come to believe that making me click several times to see the same information I could before via one click (or without clicking at all) is a good idea.
At first glance it looks like ngrok supports Windows without Ruby or Python, which I really appreciate. Not sure why that market (Win w/o Ruby/Python) has been completely ignored so far. But it seems like a strong selling point. Thanks guys! signup
I've been on DO for several months now and love them. And as far as reliability, I've had binarycanary pointed at my sites for about a month now with one outage that lasted about a minute and then resolved itself. To me, for the price/benefits, that's amazing.
One other thing people rarely mention with hosting, that's SUPER important to me, are the FAQs/Docs, and DO really comes through in that area imo.
Thank so much for the shoutout about the docs. We are very focused on building up our developer community (with our IRC channel #digitalocean, forum, and tutorials) and growing as an educational resource. If you ever have any additional article requests, please feel free to send them to email@example.com
