While technically correct, the Tesla that Elon bought has basically nothing in common with current Tesla.

Have you listened to her interviews? You can find some on YouTube.

I'm sure she has been very helpful in navigating the US govt/NASA bureaucracy and winning SpaceX deals, but she's clearly not a visionary.

Anyone wanting accurate time is using their own time source (eg GPS) and switches that support distributing it over PTP

GPU slices are absolutely a thing. Only supported on the enterprise GPUs tho and requires an additional paid Nvidia software license.

I believe the ~NYSE~ Nasdaq added requirements that any company listed on their exchange has to follow certain political (as in not economic) rules.

Edit: Nasdaq not NYSE

Intel also have up-streamed their video encoding acceleration support into software like ffmpeg.

Intel Arc gpus also support hardware video encoding for the AV1 codec which even the just released Nvidia 50 series still doesn't support.

This is wrong. AV1 encoding is supported since Nvidia 40 series.

Nvidia also uses RISC-V CPUs in its GPUs like the Geforce range.

I wonder if, in time, we might see them use these learnings to develop a leading RISC-V processor at some point. Interesting times especially considering they tried buying out ARM at one point.

Yup. Moreso when you realise this scaled down prototype has basically nothing in common with their larger variant.

So it's testing/validating nothing actually.

Only makes sense as a gimmick to get the next funding round.

Yes. They even used Asahi Linux to develop their techniques on as it gave better access to cpu controls. The exploit was tested on Safari (IE not a Linux fault but a CPU one).

The OCP server/rack designs the hyperscalers use do all servicing from the cold aisle only.
