In 2024 i’ve conducted a lot of interviews to recruit some frontend and backend engineers in full remote roles.

And at one point i was getting a lot of candidates with european names, no picture, good resume.

And when I met them over a call it was very strange: they were all asian(with really typical nordic names), they were like clones in the way they talked and answered questions exactly the same. They also claimed to be from Sweeden/Finland/Norway for most of them but yet they had a strong asian accent. Not nordic at all.

This was really fishy and since the fit wasn’t there I stopped the interview without thinking about it too much. but the more I think about it, the more i tend to lean on North Corean candidates.

their strategy honestly says a lot of crazy things about their worldview

What do you mean by this (genuinely curious).

i'm scared to explain it, you could be north korean

I have a 8 bay nas from synology and i’m now considering a move out when i’ll have to replace my nas.

Is there something with 6-8 drives slots on which i could install whatever OS i want ? Ideally with a small form factor. I don’t want to have a giant desktop again for my nas purposes.

Terramaster F6-424. Most of the non-Synology NASes let you install whatever OS you want (but, don't provide any support other than "here's how you install it"). Unraid, TrueNAS Scale, and Open Media Vault are popular OS choices.

What would you use to Remote Desktop between 2 mac without latency?

I tried several tools but it was lagging (screen sharing, vnc, spashtop, anydesk, …)

Native screen sharing with the high performance* feature works great for me. (requires the native client to work)

Ah thanks. I missed that part. Will give it a try!

Congratulations ! Will test this out tomorrow :)

Awesome! Let me know what you think.

It works on my iphone with safari

A fee years ago (~2017-2018) I configured a machine with UnRAID where i had a vm running windows 10 for gaming. It worked great passed the hard configuration haha I was able to play on my windows 10 machine vm and work on a macos vm.

Nice! Written in go. I like that :)

Congratulations on your project!

Out of curiosity why don’t you put the source code on github?

I want to clean up the environment I used before uploading it to GitHub; that has taken me like 4 days and still going. Yes, I've spent more time configuring the environment and documenting than actually programming. And the worst part? It's not even finished!

Very nicely done. I don’t do Apple development anymore but this is nice to know there is a good alternative to xcode.

Thank you :)!

Right now my go to stack is go, tailwind, templ and htmx. The whole stack works really well :)
