New York Times and Washington Post.

Wow. In the 1970s, one of the Denver or Boulder radio stations used to carry his show, I think on Sunday afternoons. Fifty-five years is a long run.

One didn't have to be a citizen to be drafted by the US Selective Service. Russia is more liberal in the matter?

There should be a mention of pocket protectors in here somewhere. Am I the only one who discarded the end cap and stained his shirt?

Handwriting is meant to be legible. My impressions is that those who can write legibly with a ballpoint pen can write legibly with a fountain pen and vice-versa. I say this as one who took up typing as soon as he could.

All I can say is that a) I saw The Social Network and thought it dumb, b) I read Zadie Smith's piece on it and thought it pointless.

The first dictionary that I remember, probably a Webster's Second, had a chart of hobo symbols.

An old friend had lived in one of the West African countries for a couple of years. She said that the then president used to say that the capital should have a large statue of a mosquito, since mosquito-borne diseases had greatly reduced the intensity of colonialism.

>> You think the dramatic increase in school violence and shootings on the rise might point to targeted unending psychological stress/trauma being inflicted on children at vulnerable stages of development?

Actually, I think that it might point to the widespread availability of semi-automatic firearms.

>> You think people just bully out of the fun of things, its induced through clever techniques indirectly by teachers and they don't even know it because they are just parroting a technique without understanding the origin which was torture.

I can guarantee you that bullying was around before 1966. I have a very clear memory of sitting on a bully's back during the cold weather on 1960-1961 getting some revenge.

> I can guarantee you that bullying was around before 1966.

Sure, but it wasn't nearly as prevalent, exposure was limited, and the school's zero tolerance policies towards violence back then wouldn't get you (the victim) immediately expelled when that bully and his many friends lied.

You also didn't have all the other torturous exposures.

That was an abusive interview even if the candidate wasn't the right fit.
