I don't think it is fair to say 100% manageable - I'm not aware any study has ever shown that. There are many sub-types. And there are extenuating circumstances for some people.
Just want to call this out, as it is very demoralizing to hear this sort of message when it does not apply to you.
Same. Except then I subsequently found that I actually had adult-onset Type 1 diabetes. But I was still in the "honeymoon" phase, so my pancreas was producing enough insulin to get by still.
I stayed on this for seven years until I finally had to go on insulin.
Reading the description of the Thermaltronics TMT-2000S on their web page. Do you not have to set a temperature, and it just senses and figures out the right temperature?
The tip alloy is set to have one of three curie points: 600, 700, or 800(ish) °F, and the curie point automatically regulates how much the RF energy actually heats the tip.
I built a midi controller. Rather, I repurposed a Teensy-based virtual analogue synth I made ages back that never worked quite right. I had taken the amp/speaker out to use somewhere else, and it was just sitting in a box. I realized I could just use the Control Surface library (https://github.com/tttapa/Control-Surface) and change it to a midi controller in no time flat, so I did. Now just need to get some time to use it to play with VCV Rack.
I would also say that it was never even close to reasonable competition to commercial alternatives until it open sourced, and it was a while after that before it started to catch up. I still remember some of the artists at Gearbox laughing when I brought Blender up in the late 2000s when I was a teenager touring the studio.
