is another, all somewhat circling around the same issues

metaphorically, Rust train does not sound enticing.

the frontend space is always moving in every direction at the same time, this is known as Schrodinger's frontend, depending on when you look at it and what intentions you have - you may think you're looking at the backend.

IF you are building software to build a product, and the company has put you on the product team in their organizational structure, you are on the product team, if they haven't you and they have a problem.

I thought the higher revenue was because Apple charges more for everything, and the people who buy Apple products are also more likely to purchase other things, driving product for app store etc. (based on some study I saw many years back that is probably out of date by now)

what about working for an investment bank? How punk is that on the scale?

Given how often they break laws, ignore social norms, and thumb their noses at authorities... pretty damn punk.

It could be very high on the scale. Like punks, bankers often don't ask for permission.

hmm, one of those old fashioned web sites, nice to see they still exist.

I have always wanted to do something like this actually, hampered only by the fact that I suck at gardening.

>All these culture things (except for the first regarding PO which is spit-in-the-face level of unprofessionalism) add up,

you said it yourself, the first one was unprofessional and should be avoided and may be cause for action. The other things, learn to live as the minority in a group and accept what the group values.

I mean maybe your colleagues follow suit about eating Indian food because Indian food is delicious? "Hey you guys know a good Indian food place around here - that's great!" would be my response.

It sounds like they do have a group with its own values.

this sounds close to:

gosh, if they hadn't basically created the market for phones like this it's hard to see how they would be dominating the market for phones like this, given their behavior.

because that's what first mover advantage is in this case. They created a market, in hardware - that's pretty difficult.

regarding other posts saying Apple wasn't first mover in smartphones:

Hey, I remember what those old things looked like. There was such a qualitative difference between the iPhone and its competitors at the time that it seemed like a whole new category of product.

I owned one. I barely used the keyboard. I barely used the internet connectivity. I even sat out the first iPhone. But I went into a store and tried one out and I knew I was getting the 3G when it came out. Phones may have had those features before, but they were strictly checkbox exercises. The iPhone was revolutionary.

The 3G was really the game changer. I held on to my Treo until then.

I would think unless her opponents were incompetent they would have made copies of all that when there was a chance she would be appointed. Maybe even before that, if they keep an enemies list.
