convinced me to maybe try datastar out next prototype where its applicable. reminds me of htmx with hyperscript if hyperscript wasnt kind of a joke. to clarify, the author of hyperscript calls it a sort-of joke and im not trying to slam it.
ive used htmx and hyperscript for prototyping because its entertaining and the novelty is motivating. i found similar issues as the author of this post where i talk myself out of using htmx for the product by the end of prototyping.
all that said we've been evaluating a react sdk provided by ESRI (experience builder) and diving into that makes me stare longingly at datastar where it seems like i could use signals to update client-side data from 3rd party apis
sort of. im no scholar but i think learning to appreciate writing for the prose, style, and vocabulary and not only the story should be required in higher education
i didnt make it through all the comments but i havent seen anyone mention college sports. from a PURELY financial perspective its the other major reason for college to exist. sports are on life support. its turning into a minor league pro system.
personally, i think this is long overdue and overall good. colleges shouldnt be so sports-centric and i think sports would benefit overall if there more more popular local teams in sports beside baseball and hockey.
the doom and gloom on the state of college sports is loudly lamented on ESPN and the like. learning academics are circling the drain makes me expect to see many colleges shut down.
then i start to think about the midrange medical professionals because my spouse is a nurse. nurses cant LLM their way through college because they have to pass the NCLEX. will colleges only exist for scientists and nurses who need lab access and need to pass a monitored exam to complete their training?
its one of the few shows raising the bar while nearly everything else seems to be intended to churn out "content"
its legitimately artistic and the last episode especially so. it was the first thing directed by the show's cinematographer and is roundly celebrated by professional critics
its incredible looking satire with quality writing
few weeks back a professional ios dev looked at my m1 pro and ask why i had an air instead of pro. i might go air when i finally upgrade bc the new pros are giant compared to the m1
> You've spent more time justifying your Apple Vision Pro purchase than actually using it for anything productive, but hey, at least you can watch movies on 'the best screen' while pretending it's a 'dev kit'.
I assume you are talking about cyclists. So in this case i guess it's not a biggie as they are moving the mass of no more than 20kg compared to 2000kg when driving a car. (from safety perspective)
late to the party but theres a pretty cool group of ppl working on building a library of HD, spatial, ringside combat sports. these ppl seem like real fans. theyll chat with anyone about their process and seem excited to share a project that excites them.
at a closer look i dont think they even have a website. ive only seen them on reddit and now that i search i think they pretty much only exist there. despite that, whoever runs the account is nice, knowledgeable and responsive
it makes me, a college basketball fan, want to talk to some of the local smaller schools about a similar project
the entire sequence of scenes on Giedi Prime were far from visually predictable. Denis is a master and flexed it a number of times in Dune. i think a fair take is Dune 1 and 2 are doing more creatively than any other big budget blockbuster franchise has since Avatar 1
Giedi Prime was the only sequence that held me transfixed during the movie. Funny, I was considering mentioning it as an exception with my first comment lest someone point it out.
Inception would be another one that springs to mind, I notice that came out the year after Avatar, although I think Inception probably took it's lead from the Matrix.
if i throw out the "franchise" qualifier then Nolan's a great example of visual novelty in big budget blockbusters. i enjoyed TENET more than anyone ive met
I think Tenet could be enjoyable in the same way that Primer is enjoyable, but I found it unwatchable at the time I tried to watch it. I'm sure if I watched it at the right time I would like it.
It was gladiator in black and white with the contrast cranked to 11. Take away the overexposure and … just like everything else the sci fi bad guys build in the last three decades of film. The Lynch Giedi Prime was terrifying.
But that’s probably because I’ve been watching sci fi films for fifty years.
